Big John
Big John is a 9-year-old Canadian Sporthorse gelding who stands a whopping 17h tall. He was surrendered to us when his owner could no longer care for him.
Big John was previously used for fox hunting, trail riding, and in rodeos. He came down with a sore back, and has spent the last few months off. Big John has been seen by our massage therapist, chiropractor, and vet. They have all cleared him to return to work. Big John has difficulty picking up his right hind, and displays signs similar to Shivers. He picks up his right hind and sticks it out to the side when he walks backwards. He does need to be sedated for the farrier for this reason. Big John is very sweet, but is pushy on the ground, so he needs a confident handler. He gets along well with other horses, but can be dominant at feed time. Under saddle, he is very calm and comfortable. He is more of a leg ride, but moves forward when asked. Big John is suitable for flatwork only, and should not be jumped. He is UTD on farrier, dental work, vaccines, and deworming.
Suitable for an Intermediate rider.
