It barely took long before Hartley won over the hearts of all the farm & equine staff at Lollypop Farm, making him a clear favorite here! This 25-year-old New Jersey bred OTTB raced a whopping 38 times over 3 years in NJ and Pennsylvania before retiring. We don't know what Hartley did between racing and now, but his riding days are long behind him. Hartley came to us as a transfer from a rescue in Kentucky. He has fabulous ground manners, is good for the vet & farrier, and loves to be groomed. He is quiet and gentle, and would make an amazing family horse or pasture companion for another horse. He gets along well with the other geldings, but can stand up for himself if need be. Hartley does have arthritis, as to be expected in a horse with his past racing career and age, and takes Equioxx daily to help with this. Other than that, he's doing great barefoot and is thriving on senior feed and hay. This adorable guy is very special, and deserves a family of his own to help him live out his retirement!
