"Horses...People...Possibilities!"
The Sanctuary at Maple Hill Farms, Inc. is an equine welfare organization offering sanctuary to both horses and people. We acquire horses through owner surrender, abandonment, removing from abusive or neglectful situations, and from auction. The horses often arrive emaciated, unhealthy, frightened, reactive and untrained.
We strive to help the horses become well both mentally and physically, and do so with the help of a staff of veterinarians, farriers, volunteers, and foster homes. We evaluate each horse in terms of training, temerament and abilities, and try to match each horse with a suitable home. Whenever possible, we add to the horse's training to help them become solid citizens, and valued partners and family members. Horses which are not placeable due to age or infirmity are sanctuaried with us, and help to teach people about awareness, kindness, and horse care.
We host programs in equine wellness for horse owners, family events, programs for youth, and programs for disabled people including a Special Olympics equestrian team which uses rescued and homeless horses.
We operate several farms and open at least one each Sunday for visitors. You can find more information and news on our Facebook page, Friends of Maple Hill Farms, or ask to join our mailing list by contacting us at MHFSanctuary@yahoo.com
